More Load. More Speed. Same Tempo.

I’ve always said you don’t need to swing harder to create more speed.

In this lesson, we worked almost entirely on creating more load in the backswing while keeping his tempo the same.

One of the tools we used was the Drag-N-Fly. I use it myself, and I had him use it so he could actually feel the load we were trying to create instead of me just explaining it to him.

The numbers went from 100 to 111 mph club speed, 148 to 164 mph ball speed, and about 240 to 270 yards of carry.

That’s a pretty big change without rebuilding the golf swing.

And we kept the Tour Tempo app going throughout the lesson. More load and more speed are great, but not if you lose your timing getting there.
